Selling gratitude or volunteering?
Democracy, is volunteering by its nature.
The free will of an individual determines the direction of the party. The paid politicians making speeches for the agenda indeed should be termed as professional; even if not, however, by volunteering we do not owe him a favor.
Power demands control; the control over an individual. Controlling or exercising power over an individual by nasty comments from your colleague in the form of a question should be termed as harassment and abuse of power. The power given by the people should not control the will of an individual.

Dictatorship, is a way that the powerful someone or group of people ruining the life of an individual.
The opinion is and should be of the individual or group. And the opinions favor the social status of them themselves. Those got the job by favor forever claims the favor is everything; well, science does not. The coronavirus is discriminatory; popular or not, if you contact the virus, you'd be infected no matter what sort of good people supporting you.
What matters here is the mechanism that can affect the results; our immune system.
Democracy says, the dictator should be removed out of the life of an individual. That someone needing favor needs favor for his job. What a scientist needs is a paper saying the virus indeed destroy T cells.

Democracy should guarantee that each individual is granted of the freedom of thoughts. What sort of disgusting assumption that they have should not be an issue other than we will not join them for friendship.
It is again the media attack on characters. Riding on the assumption, timing it with comments. Think of making you hear the most stupid comments from your colleague in the form of a question. "Oh she does not get it. She expect you think of that mean and ugly." then show the sneering un-photoshopped Biden's face. It could be the most effective negative campaign. Add a comment. A propaganda song would make it worse.
The carrot and stick is always a way of management, while behaving an idiot does not enhance the status of the benefactor of the carrot. "Inadvertently that idiot is at least less intolerable". The disgusting comments in the form of a question does not lessen the criminality of the abuse of power, however.
