Republican presidential debate

The Republican Presidential candidates debated in Milwaukee yesterday. Let's say the good and old America is indeed what they represent. The classical TV stage and the debate was entertaining.

What marks the difference from the traditional ones probably is that the candidates are more diverse. Let us hope that is not just for pretense that the party is not racially biased.

The topics they debated include climate, security, borders, education, laws, abortion, gender, former President Trump.

The opinion polls suggest the youth support climate issues. So, the youngest Ramaswamy in Trump style declared the party is not for the cause while the Floridan governor DeSantis apologetically said it is not.

On the security issue, despite the former President Bush allies and right-wing assurance that we should meddle with the European border issues, just as the polls suggest the candidates claimed our borders are more of an issue.

Emphasizing the importance of having both parents on education is perhaps sounding fresh on air these days while it sounded more against the teachers' union which is a big donor of the Democratic party.

The romanticizing the ban on abortion is very Republican which claims the pain they imagine of the cells before becoming a full-fledged human being is good enough a reason for destroying the entire life of women. Imagine a life of a woman enduring the forced pregnancy. The data shows unwanted pregnancy results in higher crime rates.

While they compete against former President Trump, they exhibited different stances against or for him. Some of their accusations against him were countered with boos from the audience. They backed off. They claimed the legality of his actions will be determined by the people of the United States.
