Paris Olympics 2024 started

The Paris Olympic games started. However, no clips are available on YouTube. The committee charges for access to the Olympic games and those live videos available only show the spectators, but not the shows.

They ostensively title their videos "Opening Ceremony" and you may think they will broadcast the show, but they do not. Some of them have thumbnails showing fireworks, which they do not show. They only show the faces of those spectators, which could indeed be more interesting.

The Olympic games are not entirely free and open public events.

The TV channels have access and TV viewers won't even notice that they charge so much just to watch the games by the amateurs. The broadcast rights for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games were awarded to NBCUniversal. The deal spans from 2021 to 2032 at $7.65 billion. The committee charges the right to promote Olympism and Olympic values. The price tag was $100 million between 2015 and 2020 (*).

The MBC app does offer access to some games, and evidently, all of them feature the selected US athletes. Mind you, the Olympics are not free and open public events.
