Jeremy Corbyn, former leader of the UK Labour Party, has launched a new political party alongside fellow independent MP Zarah Sultana. The move follows Corbyn’s expulsion from Labour amid disputes over the party’s handling of antisemitism during his leadership. His new party advocates for sweeping redistribution of wealth and power, the nationalization of core utilities, expansion of public housing, and strong support for trade unions and grassroots activism. It also calls for a free and independent Palestine and opposes UK arms sales to Israel.
Within days of its announcement, more than 500,000 people registered on the party’s mailing list—reportedly outpacing the current Labour Party’s membership. The surge suggests growing dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s centrist approach and a renewed appetite for more radical political alternatives.
