On August 10, 2025, Israeli forces carried out a targeted airstrike on a tent outside Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, killing the entire Al Jazeera crew. The victims include Anas al-Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqeh, Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, and Moamen Aliwa. The journalists were sheltering and reporting from the site when the strike occurred. Al Jazeera confirmed the deaths and described the attack as deliberate.
This attack came amid Israel’s escalating campaign across Gaza, led by the war criminal Netanyahu, who declared that Israel would continue its military operations "regardless" of international criticism and proposals for a ceasefire. The war criminal Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, under an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity, continues to lead a military campaign in Gaza marked by indiscriminate bombing, forced starvation, and the targeting of civilians and journalists. Israel is criticized by all other nations on Earth for its war crimes, except the United States. From Europe to Latin America, Asia to Africa, governments have denounced Israel’s conduct and called for accountability.
Australia has announced its intent to formally recognize the State of Palestine, joining a growing bloc of nations supporting Palestinian sovereignty. Foreign Minister Penny Wong declared that recognition is "a matter of when, not if," signaling a clear rebuke of Israel's impunity and a shift toward justice and self-determination for Palestinians.
